WHITNEY HOUSTON, the pop singer whose powerful voice and operatic range helped her to sell more than 120 million albums, Whitney's spokesperson reported that she has split from her long-time husband the singer Bobby Brown.

Whitney has been watched under the eyes of her fansclub in recent years due to her declining weight, failed marriage to singer Bobby Brown, and her treatment in a rehabilitation facility in 2005 (for undisclosed reasons). Her last studio album, "One Wish: The Holiday Album," only reached No. 49 on the Billboard 200 album chart after its November 2003 release, performing far below her previous efforts.

Over the years, rumours had it that the couple marriage will not last. One source went out to say that Bobby Brown robbed Houston of her dignity.

Brown was again arrested in March on driving charges dating back 14 years when he visited Massachusetts to watch one of his children take part in a cheerleading tournament.

The couple had recently appeared in the reality television show Being Bobby Brown was described as the most disgusting. Somehow the show helped to revive Brown's deteriorating singing career, which often come in second to his reputation for drug use and violence.

In recent years, Houston has worked as an executive producer on two films, The Cheetah Girls and The Cheetah Girls 2, starring the singer RavenSymone. But nothing compared to her long time success many years ago, when she had several No 1 records on Billboard's Hot 100 chart, including I Will Always Love You, from the 1992 film The Bodyguard, in which she also starred opposite Kevin Costner.
